I’m Coach Don, your Coon Rapids neighbor for over a decade. I live in Ward 2, the northeast suburb. I’m a husband, father, coach, and an animal lover. I’m also a small business owner. We purchased our family home in Coon Rapids Ward 2 over 12 years ago and we’ve raised two young men in our great city. Like many of you, we chose Coon Rapids because of Safety, Clean Water, Low Property Taxes, Affordability, and we have the best Parks and Rec in the State of Minnesota.

Campaign Issues Important to Coach Don

Public Safety

Coach Don is a staunch supporter of our Police, Fire, and First Responders. He is committed to ensuring that our emergency services have the resources they need to keep our community safe. Coach Don will always vote against any budget cuts to these vital services because he believes that the safety and security of our residents is essential. By prioritizing public safety, Coach Don aims to foster a secure and resilient community for all.

Fiscal Responsibility

Coach Don is dedicated to keeping our property taxes to a minimum by ensuring responsible and efficient use of our resources. He advocates for transparency and accountability in the budget, and he firmly believes in prioritizing essential services and cutting out wasteful spending. By voting NO on unnecessary expenditures, Coach Don aims to protect your hard-earned money and invest in what truly matters for our community’s future.

Supporting Our Businesses

Coach Don is a strong supporter of business development in Coon Rapids. He believes that by building a vibrant business community, we can all grow and thrive together. He supports everyone's right to work and knows the importance of trades and unions. Coach Don is committed to helping local businesses, especially Main Street businesses, and aims to create more jobs and opportunities for everyone in our community.

Community Development

Coach Don envisions a thriving community with top-notch city services for everyone. He is committed to ensuring our city parks are safe, clean, and well-maintained for families, children, and pets to enjoy. Clean water and well-maintained roads are essential priorities. Coach Don stands firmly against additional high-density housing projects and taxpayer-subsidized developments that do not benefit the entire community. By focusing on sustainable and thoughtful community development, Coach Don aims to create a welcoming and vibrant environment for all residents of Coon Rapids.

Low Income, High Density Housing

Coach Don believes in bringing people up, not down. Raising people out of poverty is a moral obligation for all people, which is why Coach Don does so many charitable activities. Coon Rapids has been amazing helping families & seniors with financial difficulties by having many locations of naturally affordable housing and low-income housing, however the Metropolitan Council is pushing Coon Rapids to add 12000 more citizens by adding more low-income, high-density, government subsidized housing. The problem is, these structures will cause a severe increase in our taxes, massively increase traffic on our roads, take away the beauty of our city, and overload our current infrastructure. Coon Rapids is meant to be an affordable city for families to raise their families & seniors to enjoy retirement. Coon Rapids is not meant to be a metropolitan city like Minneapolis or Saint Paul. A vote for Coach Don is a No vote for these changes.
